2 former members of the PHI Triathlon Team, LC Langit and Kevin Eijansantos, successfully completed the ITU Level I Coaches Course held at Semarang, Indonesia from July 18-23. The course was facilitated by ITU Development Coach Peter Clifford of Australia and our very own ASTC Coaching Facilitator Anthony Lozada.
Being certified fits nicely into Kevin’s plans as he has been coaching full time for over 2 years and was incorporated into the PHI Coaching Staff just this year. He is currently handling several outstanding youth and junior triathletes including Nicole Eijansantos, Brent Valelo, and Josh Ramos. He pointed out, however, “What is more important than the certificate is the knowledge I got, which was a lot, and the fact that I can use this knowledge immediately. I cannot wait to use it on the squad.”
Kevin is also very involved with the 2018 YOG Qualifying process and will be conducting training sessions, time trials, and camps in preparation for the big event in Buenos Aires.
After retiring from the PHI Team, LC tried her hand at swim coaching but seemed to want to transition to triathlon coaching so she jumped at the opportunity to join this course. Her vast racing experience served him in good stead during the course.
Coach Anthony described the two’s participation, “I am happy to say that Kevin and LC were 2 of the outstanding participants. They not only did the course but had to submit pre and post course requirements. Coach Peter Clifford was very happy with their contributions and accomplishments during the course. I believe their futures in coaching are very bright.”
