Subic 2009 Wrap-up
The ITU Subic Bay International Triathlon 2009 held over the last weekend was the biggest SuBIT we've ever had and one of the most difficult and toughest races we've ever conducted.
Over 400 of you took part over 2 days and several events. The times and the quality of racing are really improving and that is so impressive. More and more Age Groupers are knocking on the 2:10 range and our National Team is turning in better results.
Deserving of mention are LC Langit's brave performance, staying with the leaders until T2 and Neil Catiil's remarkable ride.
TRAP would like to thank and congratulate all of you who participated in SuBIT 2009. Kudos also to all the winners!
To those of you who expressed your thanks and complimented the race to us directly, we appreciate it very much and are happy that you enjoyed the race.
The two transition set-up was one of the most difficult things we've ever done and admittedly, that took a toll on us. To the others who were on the short end of some of our mistakes and oversights, we are very sorry that these things happened. As per our mandate, we will review and evaluate our work and endeavor to bring you better conducted, more exciting and innovative multi-sport races.
A great disservice was done to the winners of the 40-44 Women's Age Group. They were not called up on stage to receive the recognition they so deserved. We would like to cite:
1. Fiona Ottiger 2:50:03
2. Sen. Pia Cayetano 3:02:40
3. Sheri Baghaie 3:27:01
These ladies are some of the nicest people and most dedicated athletes we have and they should not have been ignored and overlooked. Our most sincere apologies, Ladies.
We also announced the Relay Team results late, after many of the people had left. Sorry, Guys.
BTW, the Philippine International Duathlon Open is now the Asian Duathlon Championships and will done in Subic Bay also. The Nov. 8 date has been retained.
Hope to see you there!
