London 2012 Olympic Games Triathlon
ITU has received word from the International Olympic Committee IOC) that our quota of 55 men and 55 women for the London 2012 Olympic Games Triathlon will stay at the same level. As well, we will continue to just have the two medal sports; the men's and women's individual triathlon.

Frodeno and Norden Win in Yokohama
Reigning Olympic Champion, Jan Frodeno of Germany, finally claimed his first major win outside of the Olympic Games at the Yokohama Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series

MyStory 2009 - Looking for Participants
National Federation age group triathletes racing at Gold Coast are asked to send in interesting or inspirational stories to the ITU Media Team. Winners will enter a draw to win up to $1000 of prizes and VIP tickets.

Welcoming Egypt to the ITU Family
Egypt has a strong history with the IOC and has well established links with the Olympic movement; it is hoped that the Egyptian Triathlon Federation will soon be able to enter elite calibre athletes into major triathlon competitions on a regular basis, and eventually fulfil their dream of having an Olympic representative in the sport.

Hangzhou Asian Cup Cancelled
Unfortunately the 2009 Hangzhou ITU Triathlon Asian Cup which was due to take place on 22 September has been cancelled.

Paratriathlon: Martin Flach, Austria
He is the 2009 Budapest ETU Duathlon European Champion in the TRI5 category for moderate leg impaired athletes; but the highlight of his career is taking a Paralympic Bronze Medal in Salt Lake City in Slalom Skiing.

Yokohama Highlights Show Online
The 52 minute broadcast television highlights show featuring all the action from last weekend's exciting Yokohama Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series race in Japan can now be viewed on demand and in high quality on the ITU's streamed TV site, www.triathlon.org/tv

Gunnar Ericsson Turns 90
Gunnar Ericsson, honourary President of the ITU, recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his friends and family in the south of Sweden where he resides.
Good friend and ITU Executive Board Member Ria Nilsson was in attendance and passed on our best wishes to Gunnar.

Anti-doping: Geranamine
The International Triathlon Union (ITU) is a member of the Association of National Anti-doping Agencies (ANADO). The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is also a member of this organization. The CCES recently put out this warning about supplements containing Geranamine. ITU thought it was important to forward this information to its athletes.
