NAGT CDO leg results write up

The Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) in partnership with the Cagayan de Oro Triathlon Association (CDO-TRI) held the 3rd Leg of the Speedo National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) last Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Villa Ernesto in Cagayan de Oro City.  The first one out of the swim was Edson Blanco, a swim coach and catching up behind him was teener Mary Pauline Fornea of Davao. The overall winner was Cebuano 29 year old Elmo Clarabal with a time of 1:43 who also dominated the bike leg, second placer was 19 year old Jefferson Tabacon from Tagum, Davao del Norte and Edson Blanco took 3rd place.

CDO-TRI also run a Junior Aquathlon race which is a run-swim-run event with participants between the ages of 6 - 16 years old from Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.  The male first placers in their age category were Miguel Torres (6-8 yrs.), Sixto Lalanto (11-12 yrs.), Martin Torres (13-14 yrs.), Sherwin Wayan (15-16 yrs.) and the female first placers were Aisha Tan (10-11 yrs.), Annabelle Torres (13-14 yrs.) and Micah Salilig (14-16 yrs.).

The event was successful because of the support of Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, Speedo and Team Miggy's Bike.  The road traffic was controlled with the assistance of the office of Mayor Tinnex Jaraulla, the barangay captains of Gusa, Cugman and Tablon and the RTA officers.
