IOC Congress in Copenhagen
Tomorrow the International Olympic Committee
(IOC) will elect the host city of the 2016 Olympic Games. The choice of
Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro or Madrid will echo around the world.
Then the Olympic Congress will take place from 3 to 5 October. And
finally the IOC Session will take key decisions on the 2016 sports
programme, with the potential inclusion of golf and rugby sevens, and
will elect IOC members and the IOC President.
ITU is represented in Copenhagen by President, Marisol Casado, and Secretary General,
Loreen Barnett.
Tri NZ Honours Terry Sheldrake
The nomination of Terry Sheldrake for a Life Membership of Triathlon New Zealand received
unanimous support. Gisborne's Sheldrake received the honour in
recognition of an involvement in the sport at all levels dating back
over 30 years.

Yokohama Delegation Visits Lausanne
Tomoko Wada, Chair of the ITU Women's Committee, accompanied a
delegation from Yokohama on a visit to Lausanne recently to meet with
IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge. The purpose of the visit was to present Dr. Rogge
with the
declaration from the Kids Sports Summit held in Yokohama in conjunction
with the Dextro-Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championships Yokokhama.

16 Euro NFs Qualify for Youth Olympics
France, Czech Republic, Austria, Portugal, Ukraine, Germany, Spain,
Great Britain, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, Israel, Slovenia,
Russia and Croatia qualified for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
in San Javier, Spain following a weekend of intense racing in the region of Murcia.

Paralympic Application Papers Received
ITU have received the papers for the Declaration of Intent to Apply for Sport
(Discipline) Inclusion in the 2016 Paralympic Games from the International Paralympic
Committee. Thanos Nikopoulos, ITU Event Operations Manager, and ITU Vice President
Dr. Sarah Springman will be working with the Paratriathlon Committee to submit the
application.
Shoemaker & Frintova Take Du Victory
Jarrod Shoemaker,
the 2008 Olympic triathlete from the United States, claimed the elite
men's title at the 2009 ITU Duathlon World Championship on home soil in
Concord, North Carolina, USA, with Vendula Frintova winning the women's race.

Anti-doping: Registered Testing Pool
The ITU has revised its Registered
Testing Pool (RTP) for the quarter from October 1st -December 31st,
2009 based on the current World Championship Series Ranking.
