Singapore YOG Athletes to Go Green
Athletes taking part in the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games will get to
visit the Olympic Village and visit the Marina Barrage to learn more about the
environment. Specifically, the athletes will learn about the challenges of water
management, and how individuals and communities can conserve water and
keep the waters clean for everyone's enjoyment.

New President for Triathlon Australia
Leading financial expert Peter Hedge is the new President of Triathlon Australia
following last weekend's Annual General Meeting. Ken Bonham stood down
after four years of outstanding service as President, during which time he led
Triathlon Australia out of dire financial difficulty to re-establish the governing
body as a relevant and progressive organisation.

Bonham & Hinton Made Life Members
Ken Bonham and Brian Hinton were both awarded with Life Membership of
Triathlon Australia. Bonham, was the former President whilst Hinton was an
ITU board member and organiser of the recent Perth ITU Triathlon Long Distance
World Championships. Both men played an important role in the development
of the federation.

Subic Bay Technical Seminar Success
After a successful course in Madrid, Spain the ITU Events Department
moved the epicentre of the ITU Technical Education Programme to Subic
Bay, Philippines. Twenty-four participants from ten countries attended the seminar.

Colombian Federation Attains Accolade
Congratulations to Dr. Jose Luis Echeverry, President of Colombian
Triathlon Federation and to all federation members on the prestigious
award the federation recently received from the National Congress of
the federal government.

International Federation Forum News
The third SportAccord International Federation Forum came to an end in
Lausanne, Switzerland on Wednesday 18th November. The central themes
for this year's three day IF Forum were Revenue Generation and Youth in
Sport.

ORIS Meeting in Montreaux
With 981 days before the Opening Ceremony of the XXX Summer Olympic
Games Thanos Nikopoulos, Co-Technical Delegate of London 2012 and
Enrique Quesada, ITU Sport Results Manager took part in the ORIS
Triathlon Working Group Meeting from 17 to 19 November in Montreux,
Switzerland.

AIS Awards for Moffatt and Walton
Australian Minister for Sport Kate Ellis has announced ITU World Championship winner
Emma Moffatt as the 2009 Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Athlete of the Year
with her coach, Craig Walton, named 2009 Australian Institute of Sport Coach of
the Year.

Dates for next year's winter triathlon calendar will be released on the ITU website
later today. Stay tuned for more information in next week's newsletter.

Anti-doping: ANADO Conference
ITU's Anti-doping Director, Leslie Buchanan, went to the Association of
National Anti-doping Agencies meeting in Auckland, New Zealand from
November 11th - 14th, 2009. She presented on ITU's position on
whereabouts and highlighted the concerns that athletes are having
with the current whereabouts policies.
